Course Summary
Humanities 8 combines the disciplines of Social Studies and English. The time period covered in our Social Studies curriculum includes Canada and the Early Modern World from the 7th till the 18th centuries. Themes in our English curriculum will reflect many of the issues addressed through our exploration of our Social Studies content.
Semester I Inquiry: Change
1. Where are we now? How are our own lives different from those of our parents at the same age?
2. What made other periods of the past different from the time before it? What were some of the discoveries and innovations of those time period and what were their impacts?
3. What were some of the causes and consequences of historical change, intended or unintended?
4. New ideas and experiences often force us to change and adapt. How are these changes represented in literature and other texts?
