Students are researching to produce a piece of historical fiction. Their immigrant diaries should capture the stories and struggles of people who immigrated to Canada during the 1800s.
In addition to their research notes, students will also submit a bibliography.
The diary should feel realistic and contain accurate, relevant details that enhance the story of the character writing the diary.
Their diary should include the following items:

Their diary should include the following items:
- 4-5 pages of diary entries or letters
- Two news articles, written by students, but based on true events or issues. One should cover a significant event or development in their main character's home country. The other should be written as though it were from a Canadian newspaper of the time.
- Two primary documents relevant to the character and their journey.
